Historic Francis Tate Barn – Wasatch Mountains

The historic Francis Tate Barn, in the Wasatch Mountains of northern Utah. The barn is located in the Heber Valley near Solider Hollow. Deer Creek Reservoir which sits in the Provo River drainage, and stores water coming down from the Uinta Mountains to the east, is seen in the distance. Francis Tate, was an English emigrant, who established a dairy farm near the barn’s current location. The original barn was built in 1902, and a rebuilt barn following the design of the original was constructed in the run-up to the 2002 Winter Olympics.
Old Hay Barn – Cache Valley – Utah
An old hay barn during a a thunderstorm in Utah’s Cache Valley. A large rural mountain valley in northern Utah, the Cache Valley is one of Utah’s top agricultural areas, providing land for cattle, milk and cheese production, and the growing of wheat, barley and hay. The valley is located between to the Wellsville Mountains to the west and the Bear River Mountains to the east. Both ranges are part of the larger Wasatch Mountain Range that dominates northern Utah.
The Cache Valley gets its name, from the fact that early fur trappers created caches in the valley to protect and hide their goods from thieves.
