It was founded by James Harrod, a pioneer, soldier, and hunter who helped explore and settle the area west of the Allegheny Mountains. Its residents included Squire Boone, the younger brother of Daniel Boone

Wildfire smoke from Canada impacts the skies above the Ohio River near Louisville, Kentucky and Jeffersonville, Indiana, leading to a wonderful orange sunset. Taken from the Big Four Bridge, the 2nd Street, Abraham Lincoln and John F. Kennedy Bridges can be seen in the distance, along with the Belle of Louisville, a historic paddle wheel riverboat.
