Storm Clouds above Split Mountain Dinosaur National Monument

Split Mountain is a sharp meander, carved out of the surrounding desert landscape by the Green River, a tributary of the mighty Colorado River. The Green River originates in the Wind River Mountain Range in southeastern Wyoming to the north. Dinosaur National Monument as the name suggests is a world renowned locality for dinosaur fossils, with nearly 800 paleontological sites located in the park. It is known for the Allosaurus, Deinonychus, and Abydosaurus dinosaurs.

Dinosaur National Monument is located on the Utah/Colorado border.

Squaretop Mountain reflected in the Green River Lakes. Squaretop Mountain lies at the headwaters of the Green River, the Green River Lakes in the Wind River Mountain Range in Wyoming. The trailhead is approximately 52 miles from the town of Cora. The Green River is one of the main tributaries of the Colorado River, a 1,450-mile-long river that drains parts of 7 western states including Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Arizona, and California.
