Kentucky Railway Museum - New Haven

The Kentucky Railway Museum, located in New Haven, Kentucky, is dedicated to preserving and showcasing the history of railroads and their impact on the region. The museum was established in 1954 as a non-profit organization.

According to the La Grange Railroad Museum – “There are currently six major rail operators of freight service in Kentucky and seven regional carriers operating some 2,400 miles of track in the state. These Carriers employ about 4,800 men and women”. Clearly an important source of industrial jobs in the state.

Pioneer Cabins – Martin’s Station Wilderness Road Park – Virginia

Two rustic pioneer cabins sit amidst a lush green field at Martin’s Station Wilderness Road State Park in Ewing, Virginia. Named after Joseph Martin, the station became an important stopping point on the western side of the Cumberland Gap, which now serves as the border of Tennessee, Kentucky, and southwest Virginia. For pioneers looking to settle on lands east of the southern Appalachia mountains, the station served as the last fortified settlement on the Wilderness Road entering Kentucky.

Ballenberg Historic Swiss Hay Barn - Switzerland

An interior view of one of many historic traditional farm and village-related buildings found in different regions of Switzerland. Located at the famous open air museum in Ballenberg, Switzerland. This  particular one, was a historic wooden hay barn. Traditional tools for handling the hay, such as a completely wooden pitch fork are on display for visitors to this cultural park.
