The Belle of Louisville at Sunset, Ohio River - Kentucky

The Belle of Louisville at sunset. Docked at a wharf near Riverfront Plaza/Belvedere on the Ohio River between Kentucky and Indiana.  The Belle of Louisville is a historic steamboat that was originally launched in 1914, and has gone by a variety names since that time. It is currently owned by the City of Louisville and offers cruises of the Ohio River each summer for residents and tourists.

A foggy spring sunrise at Deam Lake State Recreation Area north of Jeffersonville, and New Albany, Indiana, and Louisville, Kentucky. Deam Lake, a 194-acre lake was constructed in 1965 and named after Charles Deam, Indiana’s first state forester. Deam is best known for his book, Trees of Indiana, a comprehensive study of trees throughout the state. He is also known for his work in setting aside land for for Indiana’s Department of Natural Resources.

A view of the George Rogers Clark National Historical Park, from the head of the Lincoln Memorial Bridge in Vincennes, Indiana. The park and bridge opened in 1933. George Rogers Clark was an American surveyor, soldier, military officer, and founder of Louisville, Kentucky, who served during the American Revolutionary War. He is the older brother of William Clark, who is famous for his explorations the the American West, in particular the Pacific Northwest during the Lewis and Clark Expedition.
