The Battle of Corydon, the only Civil War battle in Indiana, occurred on July 9, 1863. The battle included the Union’s Harrison County Home Guard, and 2,400 confederate cavalry commanded by General John Hunt Morgan (known as Morgan’s Raiders). Morgan ultimately went on to win the battle and continue a rampage through Indiana, Ohio and up into Pennsylvania.

Ruins of the Front Street Pumping Station, Cincinnati’s first publically-owned water utility system. The station, located on the banks of the Ohio River operated from 1865-1907. It consisted of two steam pumps, three and a half miles of iron pipe, and 19 miles of wooden pipe. Daily it provided over one million gallons of water.
