One of the most beautiful displays of fall color that I have seen in Utah was in East Canyon northeast of Salt Lake City. Heading toward Park City, take exit 134, heading north on Highway 65, toward East Canyon State Park. The canyon is primarily filled with maples and scrub oak so the best time to visit is in late September. The first half of the canyon is the best for color, with the peak near a series of switchbacks close to the National Forest boundary.
