This photo was taken while passing through a colorful sandstone ravine off White Domes road in Valley of Fire State Park, in Nevada. The Valley of Fire, located in the Mojave Desert, is about an hours drive northeast of Las Vegas on I-15. It can also be reached from St. George, Utah, a gateway to many of Utah’s national parks, including Zion, Bryce Canyon and Capitol Reef.
The park is known for its scenic sandstone landscape, which manifests itself in a variety of colors from the traditional red and orange, to yellow and green in certain places. It’s also a popular location for car commercials, given its remoteness, stark landscape and windy roads.
