An abandoned homestead in Brown County State Park near Nashville, Indiana. With poor, thin soils on hilly terrain, Brown County was one of the last places in Indiana to be settled. Farmers tried for years to make the area productive, but ultimately the vast majority began leaving the area during the Great Depression. At the same time a movement began to turn the area into a nature park. Today, Brown County, at more than 15,000 acres, is Indiana’s largest state park.

The stone carved figures, starting with the woman at the center, allegorically represent Progress, History, Plenty, Law, Art and Labor. The roman-styled portico of the capitol building was designed by Charles Henry Niehaus and carved by Australian sculptor Peter Rossack.

A view of one of three exterior bronze doors at the Ohio Supreme Court, displaying scenes from Ohio pioneer and native american past. The Ohio Supreme Court is located in the Thomas J. Moyer Ohio Judicial Center. The building constructed in 1933 is named after Chief Justice Thomas J. Moyer. It features the architectural designs of Harry Hake, and Alvin Meyer, and is features Art Deco and Beaux Arts elements. The Ohio Supreme Court is located in the state capital of Columbus.
