Fall color along the hiking trail to Strahl Lake. Located in Brown County State Park outside of Nashville, Indiana. The park, which is heavily wooded, is the state’s largest protected natural area, comprising more than 15,000 acres. It was founded in 1929, and was comprised largely of former farm holdings that had been abandoned by settlers because of the area’s relatively poor soils.

This is a view of the Sierra Nevada Mountains and Alabama Hills at Sunrise. This spot offers a sharp contrast between the sandstone rock of the Alabama Hills, with the gray granite of the Sierras and Mount Whitney. At 14,505 feet, Mt. Whitney holds the distinction as the highest peak in the lower-48 states. The Alabama Hills, located west of Lone Pine, in California’s Owens Valley is famous for its frequent use as a Hollywood filming location, particularly of old classic Westerns.

This area can be accessed via California’s beautiful Route 395.

This is an example of how historic farm house kitchens looked in the Italian part of Switzerland, between the 1740’s and 1860’s. Its one of several houses brought from Cugnasco, an Italian farming village in the southern canton of Ticino, to the famous open-air Museum Ballenberg, near Interlaken.
