The larger of the natural sandstone arches is 148 feet across, and is one of the largest of the 2000 arches found within the park. The geologic Entrada sandstone layer that covers much of the park is ideal for creating natural arches over thousands and millions of years, through a combination of wind and water erosion, as well as the seasonal freeze and thaw cycle.
Salt Lake City Masonic Temple Sphinx, with a marble globe of the world between its feet. The Temple is the Masonic headquarters for Utah, and is an example of Egyptian Revival Architecture. It was completed in 1927, and is located in the South Temple Historic District of Salt Lake City, Utah.
A view of historic Story, Indiana, a quaint little village on the edge of Brown County State Park, in Indiana. Founded 1851, the town and its famous Story Inn, were founded by farmers trying make a living from the marginal soils of the hilly area that is Brown County, Indiana. The town and the inn went through various phases of growth and decline, and the surrounding countryside saw much of its original farming population leave and the land they left behind turned into Indiana’s largest state park.
