Fussen is an ancient German town, just north of the Austrian border, that was founded in Roman times. It lies within the state of Bavaria, on the north side of the Bavarian Alps. In addition to a beautiful old town (seen in the photo), it is known for numerous castles, including the “Hohes Schloss” (High Castle) from which you can view the rooftops of the old town, as well as two castles linked with King Ludwig II of Bavaria, one of which he built (Neuschwanstein) and the other he grew up in (Hohenschwangau).
