The Owen County Courthouse on Madison Street in Owenton, Kentucky. Owen County was the 63rd county formed in the Commonwealth of Kentucky and was approved February 6, 1819. It was named after Abraham Owen, an Indian fighter and Kentucky legislator, who was killed at the Battle of Tippecanoe. The town of Owenton, the second county seat for Owen County draws its name from the same person. The town was incorporated in 1828.
