Squaw Peak Road, near the entrance to Provo Canyon, in Utah County, offers one of the best displays of fall color that I have seen in Utah, especially of maples in late September. Its also a great place to capture a sunset overlooking the cities of Orem, Provo, Pleasant Grove and American Fork.
If you have the time, it offers but one stop on a larger Fall Color tour that incorporates Provo Canyon, Sundance, the Alpine Loop, Cascade Springs, and American Fork Canyon. Given the different altitudes and vegetation along this route, you may need to plan a couple of trips to capture the maples and scrub oak in late September and the aspen at higher altitudes in early October. Sometimes you can find them peaking at the same time, but this is pretty unusual.

5. Further down Squaw Peak Road, you come across an overlook of Rock Canyon and Y Mountain. This view was captured at sunet, just as the leaves are beginning to turn. A couple of weeks before the images above.
