Madison, known for its very large district of historic buildings, is well known for its celebrations of the various holidays and ocassions during the fall, and winter months, including craft fairs, window displays, and parades for Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Altar and Sanctuary. The Monte Cassino religious shrine, part of the St. Meinrad Catholic Archabbey in southwest Indiana, was constructed in 1870. It was named after an archabbey in Italy founded by St. Benedict.
