Taken along the White Domes road in Valley of Fire State Park, in Nevada, this photo illustrates the range of colors, layers and patterns one can find in the sandstone rock. The Valley of Fire, located in the Mojave Desert, is about an hours drive northeast of Las Vegas on I-15. It can also be reached from St. George, Utah, a gateway to many of Utah’s national parks, including Zion, Bryce Canyon and Capitol Reef.
The park is known for its scenic sandstone landscape, which manifests itself in a variety of colors from the traditional red and orange, to yellow and green in certain places. It’s also a popular location for car commercials, given its remoteness, stark landscape and windy roads.
