Causey Reservoir in the Fall – Utah

Causey Reservoir is located in the upper reaches of Utah’s beautiful Ogden Valley, on the south fork of the Ogden River.  Its a twenty-minute drive from Huntsville, and 40 minutes from the city of Ogden, along the I-15 corridor.  The reservoir is home to a Boy Scout camp and is a good spot for hiking and fishing.

During the fall the maple trees turn first, in mid to late September, and the aspens follow in early October. If you find yourself in the area on a fall leaf tour, I highly recommend continuing northwest up Highway 39 to Woodruff, a route known as the Monte Cristo Scenic Loop. This is a great route to see the fall leaves in the Monte Cristo Moutains, in particular, aspen.

  1. Looking to the northeast. The bathtub ring added a nice effect in this particular shot, and in a low water year, it is likely to be present.
